"Number Please"

24"x 36"
Oil on cardboard

I keep mentioning my vintage photo shoot, which is happening this Saturday. I have been busy gathering up props, finalizing clothing, hair, talking with models, and even interviewing with G Magazine. A friend lent me this 50's rotary phone, and I couldn't resist painting it. It is just like one that was at my grandparents' house when I was little. I love the sound of the dial going around. If these phones would still work, I would so have one at my house!

"A Little Sweeter"

4 1/4"x 5 1/2"
Oil on Mat board
$65

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

For several days, I have wanted to paint something with reflections, and this morning, my sugar dispenser made for the perfect subject. Not only did I get to paint the changing morning light on the silver top, I also had the challenge of painting the glass, and making it look like there is sugar inside. I also experimented with filming a piece in progress. I didn't get a whole video of this one, but I was able to work out a few kinks in the process, so I hope to have a few videos to post soon.

"Controlled by Time"

4 1/4"x 5 1/2"
Oil on Mat board
$65

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

My day is measured out in two hour increments. That is partially because I can paint for that long before my mind starts to wander and I need a break. But, it is mainly because two hours is the longest I can leave my car in one parking spot downtown without getting a ticket! So, I spend much of the day checking my watch, which inspired me to do this piece.

Oil on paper

With all the rain we have had the past few days, it was an amazing moment when the sun came streaming in my studio window and lit up all my supplies. I just had to capture it in paint.

"Tea Stained"

I have been doing more sketches from life recently, and today decided to turn one of those quick sketches into a quick painting. Below is the page from my sketchbook:

And the painting I created from it:

"Standing in My Own Shoes"

6"x6"
Oil on Masonite
SOLD

A while back, I did a painting of my sister's tennis shoes. This time, I decided to paint my own. There seemed to be something patriotic about painting a pair of blue Converse shoes. Happy 4th of July!

"Bathed in Green"

10"x14"
Oil on Masonite
$150

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

I keep all my brushes, towels, and other painting supplies on the window ledge next to my easel. The early evening light hitting those objects, as well as the tree right outside the studio window inspired this piece.

My mom sent me this picture of an old Mill wheel down in Georgia. I love all the plants that have grown up around it due to years of unuse.

"Waiting for Water"

6"x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

I snapped a picture of these old boats on our family's trip to the beach. It just seemed like they were waiting patiently for someone to take them back out on the water. I love all the textures and colors that make up these otherwise simple shapes.

"Paint Revisited"

6"x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

I haven't painted a tube of paint since about this time last year. I was curious to see how I would treat this subject now after a year's worth of painting and evolving.

"Finding Mice in Greenville"

6"x 6"
Oil on Masonite
SOLD

Hello friends! The reason for my long absense was that I was sick all last week. I hope to get back up to full speed this week.

If you have never gone hunting for the mice on Main in downtown Greenville, I suggest you take a Saturday afternoon to do it. It is good, free, fun!

"The Start"

5 1/2"x 8 1/2"
Oil on Paper
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

Today is the one year anniversary of my first daily painting! This piece is the painting I created exactly one year ago today. I didn't do much preperation for this piece- I didn't even gesso the piece of paper it is on. But the important thing that day was that I started something, and I haven't been able to stop. Over the past year, I have created just short of 200 paintings! A huge thanks to those of you who have supported me, given me comments and suggestions for pieces, and have purchased my work. I couldn't have done it without your help. Now, on to year two...

This is the doorway to an old church. I like the simplicity of the compositon here. I just wanted to give the impression that this door is inviting you in to take a look around.

"Holiday Cheer"

6"x6"
Oil on Foam board
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

I haven't painted anything Christmas themed thus far- not out of any resistance to holiday art- but I just haven't done any. So, I decided last night it was time to paint one of my ornaments. I love the glints of colored lights reflecting off the surface. This was a fun and simple project, which was especially refreshing after the previous night's struggle.

"A Good Year"

6"x6"
SOLD

I went to a wine tasting a few nights ago with a group of friends. This is from a photo I snapped during the festivities. I love the various dabs of color reflecting off the bottles.

"Dogwood in Silver"

6"x6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

This piece was done from a silver dogwood ring that belongs to my mother. There is so much color in this little piece, but when viewed from a distance, the colors almost disappear into the total composition.

"Rusted"

6"x6"
Oil on Mat board
SOLD

I came across this old truck recently, and knew that it was just begging to be painted. Because of the square surface I painted this on, the truck is squeezed in a bit, although I like the exaggerated effect. I am thinking about doing a larger image of this truck as well.
