"Dogwood in Silver"

6"x6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

This piece was done from a silver dogwood ring that belongs to my mother. There is so much color in this little piece, but when viewed from a distance, the colors almost disappear into the total composition.

Even though the background might have been a simple surface, I still just a little bit and for the sake of the composition want to see some lines or something indicative of an environment in the background to interrupt the color stew.

But that's not why I'm leaving a comment. I'm commenting because you've done something interesting with the light on this object. I don't know what it is, but it does have sort of a glowing quality. I suspect a big part of it lies in your use of light gray to set off or locate in space the whites, but whatever it is, it would be a wonderful quality to be able to replicate at will.
