A Beautiful Weekend

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to see my sister and I at the West Greenville Arts Fest this weekend. The weather was beautiful, and we had a great time meeting folks. And now, back to the studio.

Wish you were here!

I spent most of yesterday working on the couple and adding in some color to the background. I like the contrast I am able to get by painting the background a dark color and overlaying the lighter colors. My next step is to paint in the letters and add some detail to the bridge.

Unfinished, but in love

I adore the piece I am working on right now. It is working out exactly as I hoped it would, which, after the struggles I had with the last one, is a welcome change. I decided to do another vintage Greenville travel image, combining the modern bridge with vintage people and text. Before I started this one I had the image in my head of a couple pointing off into the distance with the suspension bridge in the background. I get a bit nervous when I like paintings this much this soon in the process, but the more I work on this one, the more it fits what I wanted. Can't wait to show you the work I did on it today!

Overcoming Hurdles

This was a piece that did NOT come together easily. It was pretty much a struggle from start to finish. But I also think it is exactly those struggles that make me like it that much more now. If we never encounter obstacles in our path, we will never grow stronger, am I right?

Katrina and Kyle are friends of my sister, and they were married this past weekend. Congrats guys, and enjoy!

A day of leisure

Seeing as today is the first day off I have had in a while, I thought it was worth celebrating. Happy Labor day everyone! I hope your day is as filled with doing nothing as mine.

Gee, Honey, isn't Greenville Swell!

A postcard to Greenville how it might have looked (if this bridge had been here then, that is.)
