"Blue Shoes"

6" x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

When I woke up this morning, I decided I wanted to paint something blue, most likely because the other pieces I have done this week have been dominantly red or green. The bluest thing I have is my old pair of blue tennis shoes, which just happened to be sitting next to the coffee table in a pool of morning light.

This is from my collection of coffee memorabilia. It is a bank made to look like a tin of Eight O'clock Coffee.

I just love the color in these flowers. It was especially beautiful in the morning light coming through the window of my studio.

"Morning Comfort"

6" x 6"
Oil on Masonite
SOLD

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

One of my favorite things to do in the morning is to sit and savor a cup of coffee. Most mornings I am not able to do this as I am rushing around getting ready for work. This morning was a different story! This was a moment worth commemorating. This piece is also my 60th daily painting!

"Morning Light"

6" x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

The light coming into my guest room in the morning is extremely bright, but it makes such beautiful patterns through the blinds and makes everything glow. One morning I grabbed my camera and snapped a few pictures of the light spilling across the wall. Here is a glimpse of one of those images.

"Daisies in the Morning"

6" x 6"
Pencil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

Yet another manifestation of my daisies in a jar. I love to see how the lighting at different times of the day changes the composition- The way the light hits the bottle, the colors it brings out in the flowers, the interest it gives to the wall behind them. Unfortunately, my daisies have wilted, but perhaps I will have a new set of blooms to inspire me soon.

"Beauty in Darkness"

6" x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

This is obviously another piece inspired by my bunch of daisies. I really love the contrast of the white blooms against the darkness, and the one flower starting to fade into the background.

"Daisies in a Glass Bottle"

6" x 6"
Oil on Masonite
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

I had finished drinking the tea out of this bottle and had set it on the kitchen table. I looked at it, and for some reason felt like it needed some daisies in it. This piece was fun because I had to finish it quickly before the light changed. I will be posting a few more pieces with these daisies over the next few days.

Happy Birthday Anna!

Today is my older sister's birthday, and although she hasn't seen it yet, this is her present. If you remember, I painted a picture of her as a little girl a few weeks ago. Well, this is the picture of her son that looks so similar. Happy Birthday little girl!

I spent the evening hanging out with friends and working on a larger piece, which I will post when I am finished. So, instead of a painting, here is a shot of my studio space. It is definitely a bit of organized chaos, with photographs, painting ideas, and half finished works clipped to the easel. To the right you can see my drawing table, littered with paintings that are not quite dry, my tripod for photographing the finished pieces, and piles of objects that may be used as subjects. It is a chaotic space, but I love it.

"Swing Scene"

6" x 6"
Pencil on Board
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

As I have mentioned before, most Tuesday nights I go swing dancing at the Handlebar here in Greenville. Apparently that was what was on my mind today, as all I wanted to do for my daily piece was a couple swing dancing! This one is from a vintage photograph of a couple of Lindy-Hoppers, and is in honor of all my swing friends. Enjoy!

"Negative to Positive"

This is a negative that I scanned into the computer. It is a neon sign at a restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Just another chance to look at the world in a completely new way.

"On the Bathroom Shelf"

6" x 6"
Oil on Board
$80

To purchase, email me with the title in the subject line.

The more I look around, the more interesting groupings of things I find. How often do I really look at these things that I use everyday? Doing these pieces really makes me pay more attention to the world around me, because I never know what might make a good painting.

"On the Kitchen Shelf"

6" x 6"
Oil on Board
SOLD

Over the weekend, I started a series of sorts, which I am going to call "On the Shelf." I find it interesting, the things we group together on shelves, whether they are meant to be seen or hidden away. I love collections of things arranged on a shelf, and have spent much time configuring all my books and pictures and meaningful objects. This painting is a part of my collection of coffee pots and tins, that sit above my kitchen cabinets.

"Mom-mom"

6" x 6"
Oil on board

This is the piece I started last night. It was done from a picture of my Grandmother. She is my mom's mom, therefore we called her Mom-mom! As a picture, I think it works, but as a portrait of Mom-mom, it dosn't quite work for me. I think it is something about the eyes. I am going to let it dry just a bit and see if I can rework them to a better result.

Tonight's painting is a bit of an experiment, and is not finished yet. However, I thought I would give you a peak at the progress. More on this one tomorrow!
